Islamabad Food Authority Cracks Down on Adulterated Milk
Islamabad Apr. 09. The Islamabad Food Authority sealed a dairy farm in Mehrabadi for using oxytocin injections to artificially increase milk production. Over 5 liters of oxytocin injections were confiscated during the raid.
The dairy farm was found to have inadequate cleaning and sanitation facilities, with a significant presence of flies and mosquitoes. Employees were observed to have poor personal hygiene practices, and the processing area was found to have a foul-smelling environment.
The authority emphasized that consuming non-compliant milk could have adverse effects on the stomach, liver, and intestines. A strict ban has been imposed on the use of oxytocin injections to increase milk production, deeming it an illegal practice. The IFA is working to ensure the supply of quality milk in the federal capital and implementing a zero-tolerance policy against milk adulteration ¹.
