Lok Virsa Welcomes Overseas Pakistanis with Folk Festivities

Islamabad, April 14, 2025 — Lok Virsa (National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage) proudly hosted the participants of the Overseas Pakistani Convention, organized by the Government of Pakistan. The event took place at Lok Virsa premises, where guests were welcomed with the lively beats of traditional dhol and a colorful cultural display.
The Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture, Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, warmly received the overseas Pakistanis and expressed appreciation for their unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Pakistan. She engaged in meaningful discussions with the participants on the ways overseas Pakistanis can play an even greater role in nation-building and strengthening Pakistan’s image globally.
Ms. Akbar lauded the efforts of the Government of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Chief of Army Staff for successfully engaging the Pakistani diaspora and creating avenues for their active participation in national progress.
As part of their visit, the guests toured the Pakistan Museum of Ethnology, which showcases the rich cultural diversity of the country. They also enjoyed traditional folk music and enthusiastically joined in folk dances, celebrating the spirit of Pakistan’s living heritage. The festivities were complemented by a taste of authentic folk cuisine offered at Lok Virsa.
The event served as a heartfelt homecoming and a cultural bridge, reinforcing the strong bonds between Pakistan and its diaspora community.
