Transforming Teaching Excellence in Gilgit-Baltistan: Launch of the PTK Program
The School Education Department, Gilgit-Baltistan, under the visionary leadership of Secretary Syed Akhtar Hussain, has launched a landmark initiative to elevate teaching standards and enhance classroom learning across the region.
In collaboration with the American Board of Certification in Teacher Excellence (ABCTE), the department has officially initiated the Professional Teaching Knowledge (PTK) Program—a strategic effort to strengthen the professional capacity of teachers across all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The program commenced on April 14, 2025, from District Hunza, and will gradually expand to all other districts over the next five years. The goal is to train over 7,500 teachers, equipping them with cutting-edge pedagogical skills and global best practices to improve student learning outcomes.
Key Features of the PTK Program:
Development of Master Trainers (10 per district) to lead local implementation
Emphasis on classroom management, pedagogy, assessment, and leadership
A blended training model combining in-person sessions with online assignments
Strong focus on achieving measurable student learning outcomes
Master trainer preparation in other districts is scheduled to begin from May 2, 2025
