NCHD and Hazara University Join Hands to Boost Literacy Through “Each One Teaches One” Initiative

Mansehra, April 18, 2025– The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and Hazara University, Mansehra, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting literacy through the Each One Teaches One initiative. The signing ceremony took place at Hazara University, where Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohsin nawaz and NCHD Deputy Director Mr. Faisal Hussain Khan formally signed the agreement. The event was attended by the Director ORIC Dr. Masroor Ahmad, HOD Education Dr. Javed, Deputy Registerar Dr. Zubair Alam and officials from NCHD Mansehra.

This collaboration is part of the national Education Emergency declared by the Prime Minister of Pakistan to enhance literacy by mobilizing university students to teach at least one illiterate person in their community.

Speaking at the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohsin Nawaz lauded NCHD’s grassroots efforts in promoting education and expressed a strong commitment to further strengthening collaboration. He emphasized the importance of identifying additional areas of mutual interest to better serve local communities.

Under the agreement, NCHD will provide technical assistance, including teaching and learning materials, and will encourage student participation in the initiative. Upon successful completion of the literacy course, both students and learners will be awarded certificates by NCHD.

It was also agreed that NCHD will conduct an orientation session for faculty members and students within the coming days to formally launch the initiative on campus.
