Anwar Adil Khanzada) Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Shehryar Gul Memon inaugurated the seven-day national polio campaign by administering polio drops to children in the Darbar Hall of the DC Office. Later, a meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shehryar Gul Memon to finalize the arrangements for the national polio campaign.
Addressing the meeting on this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that it is the joint responsibility of all of us to make the national polio campaign a success because polio drops are the only means to protect the builders of permanent structures from dangerous viruses like polio. The Deputy Commissioner, while giving instructions to the health department officers, said that in view of the summer season, all possible steps should be taken to maintain the cold chain of polio vaccines during the campaign and to protect the polio teams from the heat. He added that during the campaign, special attention should be paid to the new union councils and polio drops should be administered to children. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the parents and said that they should participate in the national polio campaign. During the National Polio Eradication Campaign, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officers of the police department to ensure the appointment of police personnel at polio transit points during the National Polio Eradication Campaign. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Assistant Commissioners of all tehsils to review the work of the teams during the National Polio Eradication Campaign and help in covering the rejected children. While informing the meeting on this occasion, District Health Officer Dr. Asadullah Dahri and Focal Person for Polio Dr. Allah Bakhsh Rajpar said that like the rest of the country, the National Polio Eradication Campaign is being held in Shaheed Benazirabad district from April 21 to 26. During the campaign, 420,756 children up to the age of five in the district will be vaccinated against polio. For this purpose, 1,314 teams have been formed, including 1,212 mobiles, 23 transit and 79 fixed teams. He further informed that He said that to make the campaign successful and achieve the set target, other arrangements including micro plan, training of polio teams have been completed, while the polio teams have been given sachets of Calci and ORS to protect them from the heat. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Hassan Zafar, Mayor Qazi Muhammad Rashid Bhatti, Town Chairman Syed Atif Zaidi, Muhammad Hayat Kakiputa, as well as officers from the Health, Police, Education and other relevant departments. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner distributed certificates to the polio workers who performed well during the previous anti-polio campaign.
