Student’s parents have expressed satisfaction over the positive and commendable measures taken by Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud, to ensure transparency in the Secondary School Certificate examinations under the Peshawar Board.

Peshawar – Under the jurisdiction of the Peshawar Board of intermediate and secondary education, S.S.C examinations were held in six districts Peshawar, Charsadda, Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, Khyber, and the tribal district of Mohmand. Over the course of 11 days, around 200,000 students appeared for the exams at 713 designated examination centers under the direct supervision of Commissioner Peshawar Division and Chairman Peshawar Board, Riaz Khan Mehsud. Revolutionary measures were implemented to ensure the provision of facilities to students and to maintain transparency and effectively prevent cheating.

A total of 46 examination papers for class 9th and class 10th, including both science and arts subjects, were conducted. During the 11-day exam period, strict action was taken against 54 government examination staff for failing to provide adequate facilities, maintain transparency, and prevent cheating. Of these, 37 accused examination staff were not only relieved of their exam duties but were also blacklisted for life from any future exam responsibilities. These accused exams staff have been suspended, and their cases have been referred to the Elementary and Secondary Education Department for termination under E&D Rules.Their TA/DA allowances have also been revoked.

Additionally, the cases of two private schools involved in facilitating cheating have been referred to the Governance Board for de-affiliation from the Peshawar Board. Action was also taken against 14 individuals for preparing fake exam duty appointment letters; FIRs were registered against all 14, and they remain in custody. Another four accused persons were arrested for creating forged duty letters, and FIRs were registered against them as well. FIRs were also lodged against accused persons from four private schools who were found assisting in cheating.

Furthermore, an official from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar was permanently dismissed from service for involvement in issuing fake exam duty letters. Commissioner and Chairman Riaz Khan Mehsud stated that stricter measures will continue to be implemented to ensure transparency and prevent cheating in the matric exams, which will continue until April 29. Administrative officers in all districts have been directed accordingly, and he himself will continue to make surprise visits to various examination centers. Student’s parents have expressed satisfaction over the positive and commendable measures taken by Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud, to ensure transparency in the Peshawar board S.S.C exams.

He added that, to encourage a spirit of competition and acknowledge outstanding services, seven schools were selected and rewarded, while nine examination staff members were presented with cash prizes and appreciation certificates by the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
