9th Grade Paper Leak case: Gujranwala Board Employee Arrested, Handed Over to Anti-Corruption
Strict action will be taken against all involved, says Education Minister
Lahore, April 26: On the special directions of Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Chairman of the Task Force for Education Reforms, Muzammil Mehmood, authorities have arrested Sarfaraz, the key suspect in the 9th-grade paper leak case, from Gujranwala.
Sarfaraz, an employee of the Gujranwala Board, had allegedly leaked six examination papers to a candidate, Ali Haider, including Chemistry, Translation of the Quran, English, Computer Science, and Mathematics. He had offered candidate Ali Haider from Lahore to attempt papers in Gujranwala and provided the papers in mobile format.
Following his arrest, Sarfaraz has been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Department for further investigation. He had reportedly gone into hiding after the incident surfaced.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of the education minister and the Task Force Chairman Muzammil Mahmood, candidate Ali Haider has also been arrested in connection with the case.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding merit, stating that, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision, there would be zero tolerance for any breach. He added that strict legal action will be taken against all those involved.
