Hyderabad Tando/ Muhammad Khan/ Moya (Press Release) A rally was organized by Awami Tahreek in Moya against corporate farming and six new canals, with a large participation of women and children. Protesters chanted powerful slogans such as Revoke the illegal canal projects, end corporate farming, and Abolish SIFC.
Addressing the rally, Awami Tahreek’s Central President Advocate Vasand Thari, Central Vice President Sattar Rind, Sindhyani Tahreek’s Central President Umrah Samoon, Awami Tahreek’s Central Deputy General Secretary Advocate Raheel Bhutto, Harchand Lal, Hashim Leghari, Dr Mushtaq Shoro, Anwar Rind, Anwar Rind, Fazul Khoso, Dildar Noohani, Ayaz Saleh Palijo, and Danish Kumar stated that IRSA (Indus River System Authority) has issued fake certificates of water availability for the Cholistan Canal based on fraudulent data, as part of a conspiracy to ignite civil strife in the country. They declared IRSA’s actions as “anti-state” and “treasonous,” demanding legal action against IRSA members under Article 6 of the Constitution. They called for the immediate cancellation of fake water certificates and the repeal of the Board of Investment Amendment Act 2023, labeling it a “black law” that will never be accepted.
The leaders asserted that the SIFC (Special Investment Facilitation Council) is a tool to impose a “One-Unit-like system” over the country, enabling the exploitation of lands and resources belonging to Sindhis, Seraikis, Baloch, and other oppressed nations. They accused corporate farming of snatching millions of acres from local communities and criticized the Peoples Party (PPP) for supporting corporate farming and six new canal projects. They demanded the PPP led Sindh government must immediately issue a notification to reclaim allotted lands for corporate farming.
The leaders further claimed that the Sindhi nation has thwarted the PPP’s drama of the so-called protests and mashal marches, exposing all its deceitful tactics. They warned that after failing in its schemes, the PPP is now conspiring to impose Zia-like tyranny but reminded them that the Sindhi people have historically resisted oppressors like the Arghuns, Turkhans, British, Zia, Ayub, and Musharraf. They vowed to defeat the PPP’s oppression and treachery.
Condemning police violence in Kandhkot, the leaders accused the PPP of pushing Sindh into civil unrest. They demanded an immediate end to state brutality, the suspension of police officers ordering violence, and justice for peaceful protesters.
