Lahore Leads University organizes 2nd International Conference on Social Sciences
Prominent academics, researchers, policymakers and professionals from around the world attended the Two-day Conference

Lahore (April 28, 2025) The second two-day International Conference on Social Sciences (ICISS 2025), organized by Lahore Leads University, concluded in Lahore today. The conference was attended by eminent academicians, researchers, policymakers and professionals from all over the world and discussed the important role of social sciences in a rapidly changing world.
The top leadership of the university, Chairman Mian Zahoor Ahmed Wattoo, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nadeem Bhatti, Executive Director Hamza Zahoor Wattoo, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rafaqat Ali Akbar, Registrar Dr. Saeed Ahmed Wattoo, Dr. Hilal Fatima, all department chairpersons, faculty members and students attended the conference.
Under the theme of “Connecting Disciplines, Building Societies”, ICISS 2025 aimed to promote inter-discipline dialogue and innovative collaboration across diverse fields such as sociology, political science, psychology, economics, education and humanities. The participants of the conference participated in keynote addresses, panel discussions, research presentations and networking opportunities. Speakers addressed global challenges from a multi-faceted perspective and delivered insightful discussions on topics such as social justice, educational reforms, economic recovery and cultural integration. Additionally, research papers were also presented on entrepreneurship and the impact of social media and artificial intelligence on research.
Prominent speakers of the first day of the conference included Prof. Dr. Abdul Qayyum, Director, Institute of Education and Research, Dr. Sajida Shahnaz Asma, (IVF Queen), Prof. Dr. Ijaz, Professor, Department of Education, Lahore Leads University, Prof. Dr. Waheed-ur- Rehman, Director, Urdu Department, University of Education and Dr. Baseera Amreen, Director, Institute of Urdu Language and Literature. On the last day of the conference, Dr. Aafra Iftikhar, Head of the Department of Journalism, Garrison University, Dr. Arif Toor, Professor of Business Education, Yorkville University, Canada, Barrister Professor Dr. Satwinder School of Law, UK, Professor Dr. Riazul Haq Tariq, Member, Higher Education Commission, Dr. Muhammad Ajmal, Allama Iqbal Open University, Dr. Ijaz and Professor Dr. Iqbal of the Department of Islamia, Leeds University, Dr. Kashif Javed, Head of the Department of Law, Dr. Mahmood Azhar, Department of English, Dr. Attaullah and others were present.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nadeem Bhatti announced that the Academy of Literature of Pakistan has declared the book “Ham Asr Urdu Afsana” by Dr. Amjad Tufail (Head of Department, Department of Psychology) as the best literary creation in Pakistan, which is a practical example of social integration. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rafaqat Ali Akbar said: “Integrating knowledge from different fields of social sciences is not just an academic exercise but an indispensable mechanism for solving today’s complex global problems. This conference is a platform for meaningful collaboration to make an impact in the real world.”
International academics and researchers from Canada, Japan, Malaysia and Egypt also participated in the conference. At the end, the Vice Chancellor gave away souvenirs to all the national and international guests and expressed his gratitude.
