Independent Report QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has stated that the International Boxing Championship being organized in Quetta adds new chapter to Pakistan’s sporting legacy. The Governor was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the International Boxing Championship organized here on Friday. The Chief Minister, Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Commander 12 Corps Lieutenant General Rahat Nasim Ahmed Khan, Provincial ministers, senior military and civil officers, dignitaries, International boxers, besides a large number of others including the sports officials and lovers. The Governor said that he is deeply honored to be part of this International Boxing Championship in Quetta, a historic milestone for our capital city Quetta. He said that it’s a matter of great pride that Quetta, the provincial capital, is hosting talented boxers from numerous countries of the world. This event adds a new chapter to Pakistan’s sporting legacy, and it’s fitting that we host it here. As a Pakistani nation, we have already proven our power in various international events, he said adding that this championship sends a powerful message to the world community of peace, hospitality and our capacity to host global sports events. To the international boxers, the Governor said that, their glorious presence and graceful appearance represent the spirit of athleticism and sportsmanship. This championship is not just about winning or losing; it’s about the strength of character, discipline & perseverance that defines true champions. He said that “let us come together to cheer our athletes, support their endeavors and celebrate the unifying power of sports.” He urged the youth to strive for excellence in every field, just as our boxers do in the ring. The Governor extended best wishes to all the participants a pleasant stay in Quetta. Earlier, the event was formally inaugurated by cutting cake on the occasion. The Boxing Championship is scheduled to be punched off today.
