Law for prevention of thalassemia to be ensured: Advisory committee of experts formed to address health issues: Minister Healt
Independent Report QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Health, Bakht Muhammad Kakar has stated that an advisory committee comprising health experts has been formed to address the health challenges in Balochistan. He emphasized that steps are being taken to prevent thalassemia and other life-threatening diseases, and that the government is focusing on resolving health issues in a vast and diverse province like Balochistan. The Minister Health expressed these views while addressing an awareness session organized by the Balochistan Blood Transfusion Authority (BBTA) marking the World Thalassemia Day at Noori Naseer Khan Complex the other day. Others who spoke at the event included Secretary Health Mujeebur Rehman Panezai, Chief Technical Expert of the Balochistan Blood Transfusion Authority, Professor Dr. Nadeem Samad, Dr. Afzal Zarkoon, Dr. Shafi Muhammad Khoso, Aslam Nasir, and others. The Minister Health maintained that the existing law related to thalassemia is being implemented, and efforts are underway to promote screening tests for the effective prevention of the disease. The Minister stressed that full enforcement of this law will be ensured. He called upon religious scholars to play their role in raising awareness through their sermons.
