MD WASA calls on Minister PHE: Utilization of budget must be performance base with focus on transparency: Khetran

QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran has stated that the budget utilization must be performance-based, with a clear focus on transparency and accountability at all levels.
The Provincial Minister for PHE was speaking to the Managing Director WASA, Gul Khan, on Monday at his office on Monday.
The meeting focused on reviewing the technical, financial, and operational performance of WASA.
Also present were WASA’s Director of Administration and Director of Finance.
During the session, a detailed review was conducted of the department’s ongoing and proposed schemes, revenue collection, water supply and drainage systems, and the capacity of existing infrastructure.
The PHE Minister raised critical questions regarding planning, implementation, and monitoring mechanisms, stressing the importance of completing service delivery within defined timelines.
He further emphasized that the performance of the institution should be evaluated using a data-driven model, and that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) should be introduced across all departments to enable measurable outcomes.
He stated that budget utilization must be performance-based, with a clear focus on transparency and accountability at all levels.
MD WASA Gul Khan provided a comprehensive briefing on current initiatives being taken to upgrade existing infrastructure, prevent water losses, and automate systems.
He also highlighted ongoing pilot projects related to revenue collection and digitization of operations.
The provincial minister issued additional instructions, stating that in the upcoming meetings, the technical performance of each department will be reviewed on a monthly basis, and further actions will be determined based on results.
