PDMA briefs about Monsoon Contingency Plan: CM calls for timely strategies & coordinated preparedness for dealing with disasters

Mir Sarfraz Bugti directs PDMA to enhance its resources, capacity and response plan to ensure effective disaster management

QUETTA: The Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has emphasized that timely strategies and coordinated preparedness of institutions are essential for dealing with natural disasters.
He directed the concerned authorities to prioritize transparency, preparedness, and prompt response in relief efforts.
The Chief Minister was chairing a meeting of the Provincial Disaster Management Commission here at the CM’s secretariat on Thursday.
Those who were present in the meeting were included member of the Commission and leader of Opposition, Mir Younas Zehri, Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, administrative secretaries of the concerned departments, Director General of PDMA, Jahanzaib Khan and others.
During the meeting, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) gave a detailed briefing on the Monsoon Contingency Plan, and a review of precautionary measures ahead of the monsoon season was conducted.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the PDMA to enhance its resources, capacity, and response plan to ensure effective disaster management.
The meeting also approved and endorsed PDMA’s departmental affairs and key administrative decisions.
Speaking on the occasion, Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that in any emergency situation, timely relief, rescue, and rehabilitation are the government’s top priorities.
