Constitution being continuously violated in country: Pakistan would suffer irreparable damage, if current government remains in power, Mehmood Khan Achakzai

Chairman PkMAP says he has been warning for years that Pakistan is once again turning into a battleground for international powers’ proxy wars, but sadly, no one paid heed

QUETTA: The Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and head of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan, and a Member of the National Assembly, Mehmood Khan Achakzai has stated that the Constitution is being continuously violated in the country, the people’s mandate has been stolen, and if the current government remains in power, Pakistan will suffer irreparable damage.
Addressing a press conference along with senior party leaders at Quetta Press Club on Friday, Achakzai shared that a two-day meeting of the party’s Central Executive and Central Working Committee was held, during which the political, constitutional, and economic situation of the country was thoroughly reviewed.
He said that Pakistan has been mired in crises since its creation, and the current circumstances are a test of our collective wisdom and insight.
He remarked that the current dire situation facing our region — and Pakistan in particular — is a result of the failures and weaknesses of the regions and our rulers, combined with the presence of abundant natural and mineral resources.
Expressing regret, he said that he had been warning for years that Pakistan is once again turning into a battleground for international powers’ proxy wars, but sadly, no one paid heed.
Referring to the situation in the Middle East, he said that developments in Iran and across the region are a warning sign for us. “We should not forget the examples of Libya and Iraq. Allegations are being leveled against us too — it’s time to open our eyes,” he cautioned.
Achakzai said that not only were we initially denied the right to frame a constitution, but once it was created, it was never allowed to function. “How can a state survive under such conditions?” he questioned.
Quoting a recent World Bank report, he noted that more than 45% of the population in Pakistan lives below the poverty line, while the country is burdened with billions of dollars in debt. According to him, the entire national budget is consumed by defense expenditures and debt servicing, the judiciary has become ineffective, and the media is in chains.
Criticizing the ruling elite, he said they are indulging in luxuries while the common people are struggling to put food on the table. “Public servants — civil, military, judges, and public office holders— whose assets exceed their known sources of income should have those assets confiscated to repay national debts,” he proposed.
Achakzai claimed that the people’s mandate was forcibly snatched, and the current government was formed through money and might. “Everyone knows how this government came into being — it has no moral legitimacy,” he said.
He asserted that every citizen has the right to meet the founder chairman of PTI freely. Yet, unfortunately, “a colonel sitting in jail” is denying even Khan’s family members and elected representatives the right to visit him — a blatant violation of basic human and legal rights.
He reminded the public that every Member of Parliament has the right to visit prisons, yet they are being denied access even to their own leader.
Reiterating his earlier call, Achakzai said that after Eid, protest demonstrations should be held every Friday in front of mosques to demand the release of Imran Khan and other political prisoners, and to end this “illegitimate government.”
He warned that as long as Shehbaz Sharif & CO remain in power, the country will remain under threat. “According to Article 6 of the Constitution, anyone who subverts the Constitution deserves the death penalty,” he stated.

Achakzai declared in unequivocal terms that if any harm comes to the country in this fragile situation, the entire responsibility will lie with the current government, the establishment, and their civilian supporters.
He said the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan represents those who truly love this country, and called for a broad-based national alliance to save the nation. “This government must resign so that a national unity government can be formed,” he urged.
He lamented that those who refuse to sell their loyalties are being punished, while “those who behave like sacrificial goats before Eid” are being rewarded with top government positions. Despite being denied an election symbol, the people voted for the PTI founder, a clear testament to public trust.

Achakzai strongly condemned the government’s restrictions on border trade by ordinary citizens and reminded that it is the state’s duty to ensure livelihoods and protect the lives and property of its citizens — not to block their sources of income.
In conclusion, he made it clear that his party would not compromise on democracy, the Constitution, or the rule of law, and that their peaceful political struggle would continue at all costs.
