Karachi, July 31, 2025 (SPECIAL REPORT) – The Sindh government has planned 14 days of celebrations for Independence Day and the “Battle of Rights”. Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi reviewed the arrangements in a meeting held at his office. The programs were finalized in the meeting. Secretaries and senior officers of various departments and institutions, Arts Council President Ahmed Shah, and others participated in the meeting and briefed about the programs being organized by their respective institutions. The celebrations will begin tomorrow, August 1st, with an “Independence Day and Battle of Rights Walk”. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will participate in the walk as the chief guest. The walk will be held from Peoples Chowrangi (PPP Office) to the VIP Gate of Mazar-e-Quaid. Members of the Sindh cabinet, members of the assembly, secretaries of Sindh government departments, other officers, prominent personalities from various fields, and others will participate in the walk.
This extended celebration by the Sindh government also includes a three-day cultural program at Frere Hall from August 8th to 10th, which will feature musical performances and a food festival. Activities, competitions, and entertainment have also been arranged for youth and children.
Various sports competitions have also been planned, including a marathon, cycling competition, donkey cart race, cricket and hockey matches, boat races, and a women’s cycling rally.
Commissioner Naqvi appealed to the public to participate fully in the Independence Day and “Battle of Rights” programs. Several secretaries, senior officials, Arts Council President Ahmed Shah, and others participated in the meeting and briefed about their programs. Assistant Commissioner General Hazim Bangwar has been appointed as the focal person for the programs of the sports and culture department.
