Islamabad, July 31 (SPECIAL REPORT): The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Government of Pakistan, issued a formal notification on July 30th regarding a 15% increase in EOBI pensions, following final approval from the Federal Cabinet. According to the notification, the minimum pension has been increased from 10,000 rupees to 11,500 rupees per month, while a 15% increase has also been made in the formula pension for existing pensioners, effective from January 1, 2025.
With this adjustment, the minimum monthly pension will increase from 10,000 rupees to 11,500 rupees. Existing pensioners will also see a 15% increase in payments calculated according to the formula.
Israr Ayubi, former Public Relations Officer of EOBI, stated that this is the twenty-first increase in pension since the program’s inception in 1983 when it was 75 rupees per month. He explained that these adjustments are made based on actuarial reviews of EOBI’s resources and liabilities. The last pension adjustment was made in July 2023.
Approximately 500,000 senior citizens, disabled individuals, widows, and orphans across the country will receive the increased payments and eight months of arrears through Bank Alfalah in September.
