KARACHI: Employees working under the Thardeep and other organizations as part of the Sindh Government’s Solar and Energy Project in district and Tehsils level have allegedly appointed agents Mafia at various union councils to collect payments from flood victims and others, later payment Challan provide substandard solar material.
According to locals, these agents are provided with lists in the name of flood-affected individuals to approach them for challan (payment receipt) collection around 5 to 8 thousands each. However, reports indicate that the agents are demanding bribes. If the victims refuse to pay, their challans are reportedly removed or withheld, causing immense distress among them already struggling health and other issues with flood survivors.
Local residents of villages have called on the Sindh Solar and Energy Project administration to take immediate action, investigate the matter, and initiate strict legal proceedings against the Non Government Organizations employees and agent mafia.
They stressed that only through accountability can the rightful aid be delivered to the poor and deserving flood victims.
