Chairman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zakat and Ushr Council, Imtiaz Khan, stated that the Zakat fund for the fiscal year 2025–26 is approximately 3.26 billion rupees. Additionally, with the expected funds from the federal government, the total budget may reach up to 4 billion rupees. This budget has been pre-planned for effective utilization, ensuring transparency, and including provisions for both expenditures and savings.
He expressed these views while presiding over the 14th meeting of the Provincial Zakat and Ushr Council held in Peshawar on Thursday. Officers from the department and members of the council were also present at the meeting.
During the session, the council was given a detailed briefing on the annual budget for 2025–26. Discussions were held regarding the facilitation of deserving Zakat recipients in the province, distribution policies for the Roshan Mustaqbil Card and Sahara Card, the Special Healthcare Program, and the proposed budget for hospitals at the provincial level.
On this occasion, the council made several important decisions. Addressing the meeting, the Chairman said that the annual budget for 2025–26 will be fully utilized for the benefit of the deserving recipients of Zakat. He emphasized that the available funds will be distributed fairly among the maximum number of beneficiaries across the province.
He further stated that the Provincial Council aims to create ease for Zakat beneficiaries and will simplify the process of Zakat distribution so that more and more people can benefit from this government initiative. He added that a savings plan will also be implemented based on the current budget to ensure that beneficiaries continue receiving their support throughout the year without interruption.
