Karachi August 11: Sindh Minister for Energy, Development & Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, in his special message on National Minorities Day, said that the role of minorities in Pakistan’s history is unforgettable. He stated that minorities are still contributing significantly to the country’s development with honesty, hard work, and sacrifices. Nasir Hussain Shah added that the President’s message reflects the commitment to interfaith harmony, tolerance, and national unity. He said that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights to all citizens, and the Pakistan People’s Party has always been a staunch supporter of minority rights. The provincial minister informed that a 5% quota has been allocated for minorities in government jobs, while the declaration of public holidays on minority religious festivals is also an achievement of the PPP government.
According to Nasir Hussain Shah, special funds have been allocated for the renovation and restoration of temples, churches, and gurdwaras, while minority students are being provided educational scholarships and minority youth with employment opportunities.
