Three ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’ Militants Linked to 18 Terrorist Attacks Killed in CTD Peshawar Operation

PESHAWAR – In a swift, intelligence based operation in PDA Regi Lalma, Peshawar, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Peshawar, with support from local police, killed three active militants of the proscribed group ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’ (FAKs), who were directly involved in at least 18 terrorist attacks in the region.

The group had been under continuous technical surveillance, during which investigators closely monitored their movements and confirmed their identities through forensic and intelligence evidence.On Friday night, as the militants were on their way to carry out a terrorist act in the border area between Khyber district and Peshawar, the CTD’s SWAT team intercepted them.

The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, prompting the CTD team to retaliate with precise and effective fire, killing all three militants on the spot.Search operations are underway to track down their accomplices who managed to escape.

One of the slain terrorists was identified as Abdullah alias Jawad, an Afghan national (Afghan citizenship card recovered), who was wanted by CTD Peshawar in FIR No. 92/2025.The identification process of the other two militants is still in progress.

One Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing approximately 2.5 kg

125 rounds of various calibers with six magazines

Two attacks on Police Post Arandu, killing one police official and injuring two others

Two attacks on Police Post Pajgi, resulting in the martyrdom of one police official

Two attacks on Police Post Shamshto, injuring one police official

Firing on Police Post Shahab Khel, martyring DSP Sardar Hussain and two other officials.

Ties to TTP and Foreign Funding:
Initial intelligence confirms the militants were part of a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) linked cell operating under handlers funded from abroad.The cell was actively planning to escalate attacks on security forces, public infrastructure, and pro state individuals.

Authorities say this successful operation reflects the unwavering commitment of security forces to preserving Peshawar’s peace and eliminating the threat of militancy from the region.
