Islamabad, August 17 (SPECIAL REPORT): The Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) anticipates significant growth for Pakistan’s hand-knotted carpet industry due to financial and technical support from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) for the upcoming international exhibition. PCMEA Chairman Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman and the exhibition’s chairman for 2025, Riaz Ahmed, expressed confidence that the exhibition in October will generate substantial export deals and valuable foreign exchange due to keen interest from international buyers.
During a weekly review meeting in Lahore regarding preparations for the 41st international exhibition, Riaz Ahmed revealed that several foreign buyers have registered after the announcement of an attractive hospitality package. Over 100 international buyers, who already have business relationships with Pakistan, are expected to attend the three-day event. Manufacturers and exporters were encouraged to schedule individual meetings with buyers to promote trade, with the association assuring its full cooperation. Riaz Ahmed emphasized the importance of warmly welcoming foreign visitors to enhance Pakistan’s global image.
Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman thanked TDAP officials for their cooperation and acknowledged the incorporation of their suggestions, which are expected to contribute to the event’s success. He expressed hope for further TDAP financial support for Domotex, a leading global exhibition for hand-knotted carpets, to promote Pakistan’s traditional carpet sector and increase exports. Other suggestions from participants were also considered and endorsed during the meeting. Participants included Patron-in-Chief Abdul Latif Malik, Carpet Training Institute Chairperson Ijaz-ur-Rehman, Major (Retd) Akhtar Nazir, and Saeed Khan.
