Karachi, August 18 (SPECIAL REPORT): A meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reviewed the preparations to deal with the expected torrential rains, especially urban flooding in Karachi.
Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab briefed the participants about the ongoing efforts to remove blockages in 44 drains. He confirmed that 120 suction trucks are ready to drain flood water from low-lying areas. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is being contacted for the provision of necessary equipment. In addition, he said that the cleaning process is underway in about 150 drainage systems of Karachi.
