The Balochistan Food Authority has conducted a crackdown on establishments producing substandard and hazardous food items in Quetta and Smully Kachlak. Two ice cream and kulfi manufacturing units and one water plant were sealed during the operation .
Ice Cream Units:* The inspection revealed poor sanitation practices and the use of substandard and hazardous ingredients. Contaminated water and non-standard colors were being used to prepare kulfi, while raw materials and finished products were stored in unsanitary conditions, posing a serious health risk to consumers, especially children.
– *Water Plant:* The sealed water plant in Smully Kachlak lacked laboratory reports and was operating without registration. The plant was producing and supplying bottled water with fake company labels. Additionally, insects were found in the plant.
The Balochistan Food Authority has taken swift action to protect public health by sealing these establishments. The authority’s efforts aim to ensure that food manufacturers adhere to standard practices and regulations, providing safe and healthy products to consumers .
