Karachi Police to Ensure Smooth Traffic Flow, Provide Public Assistance in Emergencies: AIG City
Karachi, August 19, 2025 Following the alert issued by the Meteorological Department, Karachi Police is making preparations for the upcoming monsoon season. Additional Inspector General Javed Alam Odho has issued special instructions to all Zonal Deputy Inspector Generals and Senior Superintendents of Police to prepare for rain-related relief operations.
The officers have been directed to brief their teams and coordinate with other agencies. Police stations are to implement rain-related protocols, which include informing residents in vulnerable areas, especially those living near rivers and streams, about potential hazards and safety precautions.
Collaboration with traffic authorities is essential. Maintaining smooth traffic flow and providing immediate public assistance during a crisis are key priorities. Authorities will assess alternative routes for submerged roads and low-lying areas near waterways. They will also implement measures to assist affected residents.
In case of fallen power lines or electrical hazards in flooded areas, the public will be restricted from the scene, and the relevant authority will be promptly notified to mitigate risks. Motorcycle patrols and police presence will be maintained at key locations to deter criminal activity.
