SPECIAL REPORT. QUETTA. AUG.26
The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has conducted a major operation against fake labeling of bottled water and beverages in Quetta. The operation, carried out by the BFA’s operation team, resulted in the shutdown of an illegal labeling unit and the seizure of thousands of fake labels and empty bottls
The operation revealed that fake and unregistered mineral water and juice brand labels were being supplied to various units, which were then used to manufacture substandard and unsafe bottled water and juice.
-The unit did not have any licenses, laboratory reports, or legal documents, and the labels contained misleading claims about nutritional information and facts.
The unit was storing crystalline liquid minerals directly in sunlight, which is against the prescribed standards.
The Food Authority sealed the unit and confiscated the fake labels and empty bottles. Further investigations are underway to identify the source of the fake labels and the extent of the operation.
The Director General of the BFA emphasized that the authority will not tolerate any compromise on food safety and quality. The BFA is committed to protecting consumers from substandard and fake products .
