Karachi, August (SPECIAL REPORT) – Public complaints against government departments have increased during the past seven months, prompting the Sindh Provincial Ombudsman to expedite access to free justice. Last year, the office registered over 9,000 complaints, while in the first seven months of the current year, over 11,000 entries have been made, indicating the public’s growing reliance on the Ombudsman’s intervention.
In a meeting held at his office, Sindh Provincial Ombudsman Muhammad Suhail Rajput chaired a monthly performance review of the advisors, attended by Secretary Mansoor Abbas Rizvi, DG-1 Naseemuddin Mirani, DG-2 Imtiaz Bhatti, Registrar Masood Ishrat, and a panel of advisors. He emphasized maintaining the ratio from intake to resolution and the need to provide free justice to citizens in a short period.
To increase the speed of problem resolution, he directed training workshops for staff and measures to address staff shortages, ordering the resolution of old, unresolved petitions within two months.
The Ombudsman also highlighted the positive initial results from university ambassador programs, awareness sessions, and open house sessions, and emphasized expanding these outreach initiatives.
