Islamabad, August 30
(SPECIAL REPORT): President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the Pakistan Land Port Authority Bill 2025, which has now officially become law. This significant legislation paves the way for the establishment of the Pakistan Land Port Authority, which will manage the movement of trade and people across the country’s borders.

With this move, Pakistan becomes the third country in the region to establish such an authority, following similar entities in India and Bangladesh. The new authority is expected to create a framework for strong cooperation with border control organizations.

The authority’s mandate includes improving trade efficiency and strengthening the competitiveness of regional ports. It is also expected to play a key role in ensuring Pakistan’s compliance with international agreements and conventions.
