PML-N Leader Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran: Steps Under PM Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif’s Vision to Promote Education in Balochistan
Barkhan (Staff Reporter): Sep.24
Provincial Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran has said that, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif, the Government of Balochistan is pursuing a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the education sector in the province.
He stated that the provincial cabinet, the Chief Minister, and members of the assembly have worked as a team to reopen 90 percent of previously closed schools, while recruitment of teachers is also under way. In Barkhan alone, 95 teachers were recruited last week.
The minister added that the provincial government has introduced scholarship programmes in some of the world’s top universities for students of Balochistan. As a result, hundreds of students are pursuing their education on full scholarships. “Our slogan is to end the era of deprivation and darkness in the mountains, and to ensure that our youth gain quality education in developed countries to move forward in life,” he said.
Highlighting another achievement, Sardar Khetran said that 100 students were admitted to Sadiq Public School purely on merit, outside of the quota system, due to the efforts of the provincial government and the support of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
He acknowledged that it will take time for the impact of these educational initiatives to be fully visible, as Balochistan has faced decades of neglect. However, he noted that certain elements and external interests continue to create hurdles in the region’s development to keep it destabilized. He strongly criticized such elements and vowed that the government will overcome these challenges and put the people on the path to progress.
Concluding his remarks, the provincial minister said that since the formation of the present government, thousands of teachers have been recruited and are now performing their duties in schools. The positive results of these steps will soon become evident, enabling the youth of Balochistan to return to the national mainstream.
