Islamabad, September 27, 2025: On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2025, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized that tourism can play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s sustainable development, empower women and youth, and boost local economies.
This year’s theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, underscores the importance of promoting environmentally responsible tourism. President Zardari highlighted that climate change, glacier melting, and extreme weather conditions pose significant threats to Pakistan’s cultural and natural heritage. He also noted that extremism and intolerance remain major obstacles to the growth of the tourism sector.
President Zardari stated that the Government of Pakistan is aligning its tourism initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on green certification, community-based tourism, and eco-tourism. He stressed that private sector, civil society, and youth participation are crucial for transforming Pakistan into a global tourism hub.
The President further highlighted Pakistan’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and tradition of hospitality, noting that tourism is an effective tool for promoting peace, harmony, and cultural preservation. He called for collective efforts to make tourism a national priority and position Pakistan on the global tourism map.
