Lahore, September 28, 2025: The Emergency Services Department (ESD) reported a total of 1,451 road traffic crashes (RTCs) across all 37 districts of Punjab in the last 24 hours. These incidents resulted in 17 fatalities and 1,693 injuries, highlighting the urgent need for stricter traffic management and enforcement.
Of the injured, 724 sustained serious injuries and were shifted to various hospitals, while 969 victims with minor injuries received on-site treatment by Rescue Medical Teams, effectively reducing hospital congestion.
Motorbikes were involved in 75% of these crashes, underscoring the critical importance of lane discipline and adherence to traffic laws to curb the rising number of road accidents.
The data further reveals that among the victims were 941 drivers, including 66 underage drivers, 187 pedestrians, and 582 passengers. Lahore recorded the highest number of RTCs at 280 crashes affecting 339 individuals, followed by Multan with 101 crashes affecting 113 victims, and Faisalabad with 96 crashes affecting 113 victims.
Victim demographics show 1,354 males and 356 females were affected, with 261 under 18 years, 962 between 18 and 40 years, and 487 over 40 years of age.
The vehicles involved included 1,438 motorbikes, 92 auto-rickshaws, 170 motorcars, 26 vans, 17 passenger buses, 41 trucks, and 132 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts, highlighting the diversity of road users at risk.
Authorities have urged the public to follow traffic regulations, avoid speeding, and practice safe driving to prevent further loss of life and injuries.
