Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Secretary Information of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Pakistan & Azad Kashmir chapter, has strongly condemned the speech of the Indian External Affairs Minister at the United Nations General Assembly, calling it a glaring example of hypocrisy. He stated that India, being the oppressor of Kashmiri civilians, cannot claim to promote peace, human rights, or international justice.
In his statement, Butt emphasized that India continues to violate UN resolutions on Kashmir while committing state terrorism in occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The international community is aware that India plays a major role in regional and global terrorism, targeting not only Pakistan but also countries like the USA, UK, and Canada.
He highlighted that India’s intelligence agency, RAW, has been involved in targeted killings and terrorist operations in multiple countries. Terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces are direct evidence of Indian interference, while the arrest and confessions of spy Kulbhushan Yadav confirm India’s destabilizing activities.
Mushtaq Ahmed Butt further stated that India has turned occupied Jammu & Kashmir into an open jail. Millions of Kashmiris have been killed or displaced, thousands have been injured or imprisoned, and forced demographic changes are aimed at reducing the Muslim majority population. Recent human rights violations by Indian forces in Ladakh have once again exposed India’s oppressive policies.
He criticized India for attempting to mislead the world under the pretext of democracy, despite its hands being stained with the blood of Kashmiris, Sikhs, and Indian Muslims. He highlighted the contradiction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership thousands were massacred in Gujarat, preaching peace and human rights to the global community.
Finally, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take urgent action against India’s double standards and systematic violations of human rights in Kashmir. He urged practical steps to ensure the inalienable right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people, as guaranteed under UN resolutions.
