Balochistan Government Imposes Complete Ban on Poppy Seed Transport and Trade under Section 144

The Government of Balochistan has imposed an immediate and complete ban on the transportation, sale, and purchase of poppy seeds across the province.

According to an official notification issued by the Home Department, the decision was taken in view of the potential misuse of poppy seeds for promoting illegal cultivation of narcotics. The statement clarified that such activities not only pose a serious threat to law and order but also contribute to the spread of drug addiction in society.

In this regard, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been enforced across Balochistan with immediate effect. The ban will remain in place until further orders.
