Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, inspected the under-construction Gishkore Dam in Sami area of Kech district.
During the visit, Irrigation officials briefed him that Gishkore Dam is a mega development project of Balochistan with a water storage capacity of 95,000 acre-feet. The dam will be 1,082 meters long, 55 meters high, with a spillway discharge capacity of 12,687 cusecs. Once completed, it will be the second largest dam in southern Balochistan, capable of providing 17 million gallons of drinking water daily to Turbat city and irrigating nearly 13,000 acres of agricultural land.
Minister Buledi emphasized that this historic project will ensure sustainable water resource management, enhance food security, and serve as a foundation for the socio-economic development of Makran Division. He said its completion will not only increase agricultural output but also contribute to urban growth and long-term benefits for future generations.
The minister termed the presence of renowned physicist and intellectual Professor Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy as a great honor for his constituency and for Balochistan. Senior officials and lawmakers including Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Meena Majeed Baloch, Mir Asghir Rind, Haji Barkat Rind, Additional Chief Secretary Development Zahid Saleem, Secretary C&W Lal Jan Jaffar, Secretary Health Mujeeb Panizai, and Chief Engineer Dr. Sajjad Baloch were also present.
