ANF Pakistan Smashes International Drug Trafficking Network — Infamous “Haji Tariq Khan Group” Dismantled
ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan has achieved a major breakthrough by successfully dismantling an international drug trafficking network known as the “Haji Tariq Khan Group.”
According to the ANF spokesperson, credible intelligence reports revealed that international drug smuggling networks were exploiting poor and vulnerable individuals from interior Sindh, luring them into smuggling narcotics to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries — particularly Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Oman.
Through advanced investigative techniques and digital as well as physical surveillance, ANF identified the group’s operatives who deceived underprivileged and less-educated youth by promising them bright futures abroad. The couriers were forced to conceal narcotics in their stomachs in the form of capsules and travel to Gulf destinations.
As a result of these efforts, four drug couriers belonging to the group were arrested in Saudi Arabia. Within just seven days of this development, ANF apprehended three more carriers with narcotics in possession inside Pakistan. Subsequent high-level investigations led to the arrest of the mastermind, Haji Tariq Khan, from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
With the arrest of nine members including the ringleader, the ANF successfully dismantled this entire international drug trafficking network. The agency has further tightened its net around other absconding suspects, who are expected to be brought to justice soon.
The ANF spokesperson reiterated the organization’s unwavering commitment, stating:
> “Combating narcotics and dismantling international drug trafficking networks remain ANF’s top mission. Despite limited manpower and resources, the Force continues to work with utmost dedication, professionalism, and national spirit to achieve this goal.”
