Quetta, October 7:
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the province’s biggest challenge is not law and order or alleged unrest, but corruption, which has severely affected institutions, social structure, and youth confidence. He expressed these views while addressing the closing ceremony of the Inter-University Sports Festival at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) on Tuesday, marking Anti-Corruption Day.

The CM said that without eliminating corruption, development, justice, and good governance cannot be achieved. He added that the province has strengthened accountability mechanisms through NAB, the Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT), Anti-Corruption Establishment, and departmental accountability processes to ensure transparency and integrity at all levels.

Highlighting independence in the accountability process, he noted that no individual is above the law. For the first time, a CMIT chairman filed a report against his own brother, reflecting the impartiality and transparency of the system.

Addressing the youth, CM Bugti said they are the true asset of any nation. By embracing honesty, truthfulness, and service, they can eliminate corruption and injustice from society. He emphasized that the real power of the state lies not in weapons but in educated, aware, and honest youth.

He urged young people not to fall prey to false propaganda but to promote research and constructive activities. He stressed that the resources of Balochistan belong to the people and must only be used for public welfare.

The CM added that the government has initiated effective institutional reforms to ensure transparency and is taking indiscriminate action against corrupt elements. Encouraging honest officers and restoring public trust remains a top priority.

Commenting on the role of sports, he said such activities instill discipline, teamwork, and resilience among youth, which are vital for a healthy, corruption-free society. He urged all to collectively fight corruption, describing it as a shared responsibility of the nation, with youth playing a key role in leading Balochistan towards integrity, diligence, and public service.

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majid Baloch, DG NAB Balochistan Nauman Aslam, BUITEMS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, and other officials.
