Gwadar, October 10: A high-level meeting was held at the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) office to assess ongoing efforts to address the water shortage in Gwadar. The meeting was attended by Provincial Assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, DG GDA Moin-ur-Rehman Khan, Commissioner Makran Qadir Bakhsh Parkani, Chief Engineer GDA Haji Syed Muhammad, and other officials.

The meeting reviewed measures taken so far by provincial authorities and institutions to mitigate the water crisis. Officials reported that water supply is gradually improving, with approximately 50 tankers delivering water daily from Mirani Dam, and an additional 50 large tankers to be added in the coming days. Water delivery from Shadi Kor Dam is also increasing, and work is ongoing to enhance the capacity of the Gwadar Port Authority’s desalination plant.

While overall supply and demand are gradually balancing, technical issues in distribution lines may cause temporary challenges in certain areas. MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman urged the public to remain patient, cooperate with authorities, and use water judiciously. He assured citizens that all relevant institutions are working round the clock to restore normalcy. Following the meeting, officials inspected the GPA Water Desalination Plant to review ongoing progress.
