RAWALPINDI, October 11
Afghan forces opened unprovoked fire at multiple locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border late Saturday night, prompting a strong and effective response from the Pakistan Army, security sources confirmed.
According to details, the unprovoked firing was carried out from the Afghan side at Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baramcha (Balochistan) sectors. The firing was reportedly aimed at facilitating the infiltration of Khawarij formations across the border.
Pakistan Army’s alert and vigilant posts responded swiftly and effectively, launching a powerful counter-response which is still ongoing. Security sources said that multiple Afghan border posts were destroyed and dozens of Afghan personnel and Khawarij elements were neutralized in the exchange.
Reports suggest that several Taliban positions were abandoned amid the intense retaliation, with significant losses observed on the Afghan side.
This act of aggression from Afghanistan comes at a time when the Afghan Foreign Minister is visiting India, raising serious questions about the timing and intent behind the attacks, security sources noted.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has also conducted precise strikes targeting Daesh and Khawarij training camps and hideouts inside Afghan territory along the border, according to reliable security sources.
The Pakistan Army remains fully prepared to defend every inch of the national frontier and thwart any attempt to aid or abet terrorist infiltration, reaffirmed officials.
