The Centre for Research, Policy Development, Peace and Strategic Studies (CRPPSS), in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence, Home Department, Government of Balochistan, organized a high-level Roundtable Conference on “Smart Development: Linking Health, Technology, and Climate Resilience in Balochistan.”
The session, chaired by Chief Coordination Officer (CCO) Mr. Dost Muhammad Barech, brought together policymakers, academics, climate experts, and youth representatives to discuss integrated approaches for sustainable development in the province.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Barech appreciated the Government of Balochistan’s proactive initiatives such as the Balochistan Climate Change Policy, the Green Balochistan Initiative, and the solarization of 28,000 tube wells with an investment of PKR 51 billion, terming them vital steps toward a climate-resilient future.
Mr. Atta Kakar, Director In-Charge CRPPSS, presented the conceptual framework of “Smart Development,” highlighting how the linkage of health, technology, and climate can serve as a roadmap for inclusive growth in Balochistan.
Climate and policy experts Dr. Dost Muhammad, Dr. Maki Kakar, and Dr. Anila Ali shared evidence-based insights on governance gaps, health sector challenges, and the need for data-driven policymaking. They emphasized strengthening institutional capacity, integrating technology into policy monitoring, and promoting gender-inclusive approaches to climate resilience.
The session concluded with strong consensus on collaborative action between government, academia, and civil society to promote sustainable and climate-smart development in Balochistan.
