Governor Balochistan Meets Iranian Consul General, Discusses Expansion of Trade Ties

Governor Balochistan, Jafar Khan Mandokhel, stated that trade between Pakistan and Iran is currently conducted through traditional methods and on a limited scale. Both countries, however, are keen to expand their commercial relations and modernize them to meet contemporary demands. He emphasized efforts to increase the current annual bilateral trade from $3 billion to $10 billion.

It was also announced that the Zahedan–Quetta flight will commence on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and Governor Balochistan along with the Iranian Consul General will welcome the passengers of the inaugural flight at Quetta Airport.

These remarks were made during a meeting at Governor House Quetta with Iranian Consul General Mohammad Karimi. The discussions covered the latest political developments, border trade, people-to-people connections, and strengthening the Persian Department at the University of Balochistan, along with other matters of mutual interest.

The weekly Iran Air flight aims to provide convenience and ease of travel for passengers. Initially, the service will operate between Quetta and Zahedan, with the possibility of increasing frequency based on passenger demand.

Both leaders agreed to maintain ongoing bilateral communication, and the meeting concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields and gifts.
