QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has stated that efforts would be intensified to bring all public universities of the province at par of those in Islamabad and Punjab.
He emphasized the need to make salary packages in universities more attractive while keeping in view the province’s financial limitations.
He expressed these views while presiding over the 9th meeting of the Senate of the University of Turbat (UoT) here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Higher Education, Saleh Baloch, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Kaleemullah Babar, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Gul Hassan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, HEC representative Dr. Zahoor Bazai, HEC Director General Dr. Nasir Shah, Additional Secretary Finance Arif Achakzai and Registrar of the University of Turbat, Gangozaar Baloch, along with other members of the Senate.
Addressing the Senate members, the Governor maintained that one of the distinguishing features of every university’s Senate meeting is that, along with discussions on the institution’s matters and issues, the respected members also present intellectual suggestions and constructive critiques.
This, he noted, promotes transparency, accountability, and collective wisdom, helping in making key decisions based on the members’ diverse expertise and experience.
Jaffar Mandokhail directed that the pace of construction work on academic blocks, male and female hostels, and sports facilities at the University of Turbat be accelerated so that students can fully benefit from them. Commending the performance of the university, he praised Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Gul Hassan and his team for their dedicated efforts but added that there is always room for improvement at both individual and institutional levels.
In light of new recommendations and suggestions from the Senate’s 9th meeting, several important decisions were made.
In the end, Governor distributed commemorative shields among the participants.
