GILGIT, Nov 25, 2025 — The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission (ECGB) has formally written to the President of Pakistan, requesting approval of the proposed Poll Day for the upcoming GB Assembly general elections. The constitutional five-year term of the current assembly ended on November 24, 2025.
According to the ECGB spokesperson, once the President approves the Poll Day under the Elections Act 2017, the Commission will issue the election schedule in accordance with Section 57(2). The ECGB has proposed January 24, 2026 (Saturday) as the Poll Day for the general elections.
The spokesperson reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections across all constituencies of Gilgit-Baltistan.
