Karachi Journalists to Receive Stronger Support, Says PFUJ Secretary-General

Karachi: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Secretary-General Anees Haider, during his special visit to Korangi, assured that professional journalists will not be left disappointed. Addressing senior and junior journalists at a special introductory program held at the Council Hall of the Deputy Commissioner and Town Municipal Corporation Korangi office, he announced the establishment of a strong, active, and fully operational office under the Karachi Unit of Journalists (KUJ) to strengthen the voice of the press in the district.

The event saw participation from dozens of prominent journalists, including senior PFUJ members and KUJ representatives. Secretary-General Anees Haider emphasized that Karachi’s journalists work tirelessly and deserve a secure, professional, and fully supportive platform. He highlighted that, in the first phase of membership registration, journalists will be given special priority and that no journalist will be left unsupported.

“Creating a complete Karachi Unit is one of PFUJ’s top priorities. Karachi journalists have long sought a strong and organized platform, and my visit marks the beginning of a new era for Korangi’s journalistic community,” he said. He further added that PFUJ aims to provide every journalist with institutional-level backing and consistent support.

Senior journalist Wajahat Hussain praised the initiative, saying, “Karachi has always been a hub of journalistic activity, and professional journalists are the city’s invaluable asset.” Advocate Shahid Mayo added, “Pressure and obstacles on journalists are unacceptable, and we will extend full legal support to protect their rights.”

Rao Ayub Usman, a senior PFUJ representative, stated that journalists in Karachi are increasingly organizing themselves, and professional working journalists will remain the union’s primary focus.

The gathering was attended by dozens of senior journalists, photojournalists, reporters, cameramen, and representatives from various journalistic organizations. The KUJ delegation included senior members such as Amir Mehdi and senior journalist Syed Tahir Hussain, among others.

At the conclusion of the program, participants hailed Anees Haider’s visit to Korangi as a milestone for local journalists. The session aimed to lay the foundation for a united, strong, and dynamic journalistic unit in the district, with attendees pledging full support for the initiative.
