Uthal, December 4, 2025: Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences hosted an Entrepreneurship Gala and Mini Market for women, organized by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) with the support of the State Bank of Pakistan. The event was inaugurated by Secretary, Women Development Department Balochistan, Saira Atta, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tarin.
The ceremony was attended by Registrar Dr. Balach Rashid, State Bank Chief Manager Mudassir Ahmed, ORIC Director Dr. Javed Meraj, Additional Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Siraj Ahmed Baloch, and other special guests.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tarin said the program aims to empower women and highlight their skills, enabling them to play a meaningful role in national development. He appreciated ORIC and State Bank initiatives for supporting women’s economic empowerment.
Secretary Saira Atta emphasized that providing women with rights and economic independence is a government priority. She highlighted incubation centers across Balochistan that train women in skills, business development, and guidance, and noted that interest-free loans ranging from PKR 5 to 15 lakh are being provided to support women entrepreneurs.
State Bank Chief Manager Mudassir Ahmed added that national development is impossible without empowering women, and that banks are facilitating women-led businesses, with events like these opening new opportunities.
After the ceremony, dignitaries visited the mini market, inspecting stalls set up by women from various areas of Lasbela and appreciating their talent. Secretary Saira Atta later met Vice Chancellor Dr. Abdul Malik Tarin to discuss educational activities, the food gala, and other initiatives.
