The Pakistan-Japan Business Forum (PGBF) held its annual gala and general meeting, presided over by Patron-in-Chief and Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, His Excellency Akamatsu Shoichi. The event was attended by PGBF Chairman Murtaza Mandviwala, former Chairman Kaleem Farooqi, Senior Vice Chairman Etaro Nakamura, Vice Chairman Syed Feroz Alam Shah, Consul General of Japan in Karachi Hattori Masaru, Honorary Consul General of Japan Syed Nadeem Alam Shah and his wife Khadija Nadeem, Aziz Memon, and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) country head.
Business leaders from sectors including automotive, pharmaceuticals, IT, textiles, engineering, fisheries, petrochemicals, and steel participated in the forum. Chairman Murtaza Mandviwala, with the support of senior office-bearers, presented PGBF’s performance for the year, while the Finance Director shared the annual financial report. Following the meeting, the forum hosted a gala dinner and cultural program, attended by members and the diplomatic community in Karachi.
Ambassador Akamatsu highlighted the seven decades of diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Japan, noting that Japanese investment in Pakistan has now surpassed $1.3 billion, spanning automotive, energy, textiles, daily goods, and IT sectors. He expressed optimism that under the leadership of Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, bilateral relations will continue to strengthen.
Chairman Mandviwala stated that Pakistan and Japan are entering a new era of business growth and engagement, with both countries exploring new opportunities to consolidate existing business ties.
