Matiari, December 9, 2025: An open court convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to address public grievances has raised serious concerns over the performance of the district administration. Despite the presence of Special Assistant for Rehabilitation Gyan Chand Esrani, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh Tanzila Qamberani, and Aajaz Dhamrah, citizens highlighted a range of unresolved issues reflecting systemic administrative failures.
A large number of participants presented complaints regarding the lack of clean drinking water, non-functional RO plants, inadequate maintenance works, and alleged police excesses. Citizens accused certain police officers of causing distress rather than protecting the public, while numerous complaints have remained pending for months without resolution.
During the session, residents questioned which department is genuinely committed to delivering public services, but officials were unable to provide satisfactory answers. Although the authorities acknowledged the concerns, citizens expressed fears that the directives issued might remain confined to paper, with little practical follow-up, as has happened previously.
Observers and local experts said the Matiari administrative structure appears increasingly outdated and ineffective, requiring immediate, action-oriented interventions. They emphasized that only prompt, transparent, and accountable governance can address essential public needs and restore citizens’ confidence in local institutions.
The open court highlighted the urgent necessity for reform, stressing that without practical and timely measures, public service deficiencies in Matiari are likely to intensify, further eroding trust in government authorities.
