QUETTA: The Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Balochistan, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has said that a strong legal framework is essential for maintaining law and order in the province.
The ACS expressed these remarks while presiding over an important meeting organized by the Home Department regarding the proposed draft rules of the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Act 2025, here on Wednesday.
The senior officials from the Provincial Home Department, Police, CTD, Prosecution Department, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, security agencies and other concerned departments participated in the meeting.
During the course of meeting, clause-by-clause deliberations were held on the proposed rules and various key points were discussed to further strengthen the existing legal framework for countering terrorism.
The meeting was informed that the objective of the amended rules is to align the investigation process, prosecution, intelligence coordination and operational procedures with modern requirements so that evolving challenges of terrorism can be effectively addressed.
Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that strengthening counter-terrorism laws is the need of the hour, and the proposed rules would serve as an important milestone in this regard.
During the meeting, different departments presented their recommendations. The Additional Chief Secretary directed the relevant institutions to submit their written proposals to the Home Department as soon as possible so that the draft may be finalized and forwarded for approval according to the constitutional procedure.
The participants of meeting expressed their resolve that through an integrated strategy, improved legislation, and strong cooperation, the system for preventing terrorism in the province can be made more effective.
