Quetta, December 16, 2025 —
Earthquake tremors were felt in several areas of Balochistan late Tuesday night, causing fear and panic among residents, though no casualties or property damage have been reported so far. According to the Seismological Centre, the main earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale and struck near Somiani, approximately 87 kilometers from Karachi. The quake originated at a shallow depth of 12 kilometers, which led to tremors being felt across a wide area.

Residents in Somiani, Winder, Hub, and Gadani reported strong shaking, prompting many people to rush out of homes and buildings as a precautionary measure. Authorities said that emergency and disaster management teams were immediately alerted to assess the situation in the affected regions.

Earlier, mild earthquake tremors were also felt in Sibi and surrounding areas. The second quake measured 3.2 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located around 53 kilometers southwest of Sibi. While the tremors were brief, they added to public anxiety, particularly in areas that have experienced seismic activity in the past.

Officials confirmed that no reports of loss of life or damage to infrastructure have been received. Citizens have been advised to remain cautious, avoid panic, and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks. Relevant departments remain on standby to respond to any emergency situation.
