Quetta: Chief of Sarawan and former Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani strongly criticized the frequent transfers of deputy commissioners in Balochistan, calling it a glaring example of “bad governance.” Speaking to the media during a session of the provincial assembly, he said that administrative continuity is crucial for efficient public service delivery and stability. Raisani noted that transferring deputy commissioners every two months disrupts governance, slows down development projects, and undermines accountability. “Government officials often take pride in what they call ‘good governance,’ but to me, it is laughable,” he remarked. Highlighting the consequences of these abrupt transfers, he emphasized that such practices hinder long-term planning and negatively impact the public’s trust in administration. Raisani urged the provincial government to adopt a systematic approach to postings, ensuring that officials can complete their tenures effectively while addressing local issues. He stated that continuity in leadership is essential for maintaining law and order, improving service delivery, and fostering economic and social development. The former chief minister’s remarks underline growing concerns over administrative instability and its effect on governance in Balochistan, raising calls for reforms to create a more sustainable and accountable bureaucratic system.
