Peshawar, January 2: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) has released its Annual Performance Report for 2025, highlighting extensive enforcement actions across the province. According to the report, 92,312 food-related businesses were inspected, while 413,888 kilograms and litres of substandard and unsafe food items were seized and destroyed.
The authority issued 7,685 improvement notices and sealed 142 food outlets over serious hygiene violations. During the year, 40,932 licenses were issued or renewed, 1,318 food products were registered, and Rs253.8 million was generated through licensing, registration and fines.
The report also revealed the closure of three major factories involved in counterfeit beverages and fake milk production. DG KP Food Authority Wasif Saeed said the province’s first Provincial Food Testing Laboratory has been inaugurated and most operations have been digitized to ensure transparency and efficiency.
