Quetta: The launch of the Pink Bus Service for women and female students in Balochistan has been hailed as a landmark initiative to ensure safe, dignified, and convenient transportation, Pakistan Muslim League-N leader and Member of the Balochistan Assembly Sheikh Zarak Khan Mandokhail said on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Zarak Mandokhail noted that the provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, is actively implementing practical measures aimed at improving the welfare of women across the province. He described the Pink Bus Service as a tangible example of public-oriented planning and a step forward in addressing longstanding mobility challenges faced by female residents.
The MPA highlighted that female students and working women in Quetta have long struggled with daily commuting, often facing safety and accessibility issues. With the introduction of the Pink Bus Service, women will now have reliable access to educational institutions, workplaces, and healthcare facilities, thereby promoting a sense of security and independence.
Sheikh Zarak Mandokhail emphasized that safe transport for women is not merely a convenience but a catalyst for social and economic development. He expressed hope that the service would be expanded to other districts in the province, enabling broader access and greater participation of women in public life.
“The progress of Balochistan is inherently tied to the empowerment of women,” he stated, underlining that initiatives like the Pink Bus Service are essential for fostering an inclusive and prosperous society. The MPA concluded by praising the provincial government’s proactive approach, asserting that such people-friendly projects demonstrate a clear commitment to addressing public needs and ensuring equitable opportunities for all citizens.
